A vehicle can look tidy today and still have reported damage in its history. It can also have visible wear that a history report does not explain. Canadian dealerships should present those two sources of information without making one stand in for the other.
A current gallery answers visual questions. A history report addresses available reported events.
Keep the history source clear
CARFAX Canada’s damage guidance describes reported accident and damage information from third-party sources. It recommends considering a report alongside an inspection and test drive.
That does not mean every event is recorded or that a photograph can verify the completeness of a report. Avoid turning the absence of a visible mark into a claim about the vehicle’s entire past.
Use the repaired-panel example
Suppose a reported repair concerns a body panel that now appears tidy. Photograph the current panel clearly and retain the relevant history information in the dealership’s normal records.
Do not remove the history question by choosing an attractive angle. Equally, do not describe an earlier condition as still present without checking the actual car. The buyer needs the current appearance and accurate information about known history.
Show visible condition directly
Capture remaining scratches, seat wear or wheel damage with enough context to locate them. Keep those photographs current after visible reconditioning. A detail shot is useful only if the viewer can understand what and where it shows.
The photographs should not be labeled as a mechanical certification. If a buyer asks about an issue beyond what the gallery shows, the team should refer to the appropriate inspection or record rather than infer an answer from the hero image.
Keep badges separate from proof
Before placing a report-related badge or statement in an image, verify your rights to the artwork and the accuracy of the statement. A decorative graphic should not imply an affiliation, guarantee or history result that the dealer cannot substantiate.
Maintain clean source photographs so the presentation can be corrected without having to reconstruct every original file. Link or display verified history information through the established tools your dealership uses.
Present the exterior carefully
Motuva Studio prepares exterior presentation images. Keep originals, inspect processed output against them and retain your own interiors and condition close-ups. Upload through the usual inventory process.
No direct CARFAX Canada integration or history verification is implied. The final review asks whether the actual photographs, known records and listing wording tell a consistent, understandable story about this vehicle.
