The first photograph a shopper sees is often in an inventory search result. That small view has a different job from the full gallery: it helps someone identify a vehicle worth inspecting.
For US dealers using Dealer.com, approve both surfaces rather than reviewing only the large image.
Read the vendor guidance with its dates
Dealer.com describes responsive website presentation. Its photography article discusses actual vehicle photos, overlays and search-result galleries, drawing on studies from 2017–2020.
Those older figures are not a current forecast for your dealership. The useful practical question here is whether your own search view and gallery help a shopper inspect the correct car.
Choose the lead image in context
Open the unit beside other inventory results. Check whether the vehicle fills enough of the image to be identifiable, whether its body shape remains visible and whether added text obscures it.
A clean lead photo can be easier to read than a picture repeating information already displayed beside it. If you use branded artwork, compare both versions in the actual search layout. Choose based on the visible result, then check the receiving destination’s requirements separately.
Make the expanded gallery answer more
After the overview, include other exterior sides, interior layout, useful equipment and condition details. The full gallery should add information that the search card cannot carry.
Check enlarged images for blur and compression. If the source file is sharp but the displayed detail is poor, investigate the publishing or display route before sending the photographer back to the vehicle.
Review one path on two devices
Find the same unit through the inventory page on a phone and a larger screen. Open the gallery and return to the results. Note where a crop hides a bumper, where text becomes unreadable or where the image order differs from your approved set.
If your setup offers photographs within the search results, inspect those too. Do not assume every account or layout uses an identical carousel arrangement.
Keep metrics separate from visible defects
Fix a visibly wrong photograph because it is wrong. When examining page views, also consider stock mix, traffic and the reporting period. A change in detail-page views alone does not prove that a photo treatment helped or harmed sales.
Motuva Studio can prepare exterior files for your normal upload process. Preserve originals, inspect the output and retain dealer-captured interiors and condition views. No direct Dealer.com integration or numerical performance result is promised.
