DealerSocket Inventory+: when are the photos ready?

Add a practical photo-readiness review to your US Inventory+ process, separating an acquired vehicle from one whose current condition is ready to present.

Written by Andre, Team Motuva2 min read

An acquired vehicle and a photographable vehicle are not always the same thing. A US dealership may have a correct inventory record while the car still needs visible reconditioning work.

For teams using DealerSocket Inventory+, make that distinction explicit before the first gallery is treated as final.

Put the product in its actual context

DealerSocket’s Inventory+ page describes inventory management from acquisition through disposition, including market information and aging. That lifecycle is the context for this guide.

The following photo-readiness review is our recommendation. It is not a claim that Inventory+ supplies a particular checklist, status field or image-editing control in your account.

Separate record readiness from photo readiness

At intake, establish the correct stock unit and identify visible work still required. A car can have its VIN and specification recorded accurately while its front bumper is awaiting repair.

Keep a short list of views affected by pending work. If you publish an initial set, make the replacement task specific: which picture, which change and who owns the update? Otherwise a temporary image can remain online long after the car is ready.

Approve the finished condition

When reconditioning is complete, compare the earlier gallery with the actual car. Review wheels, body panels and interior surfaces affected by the work. Replace both close-ups and wider views that show the earlier condition.

Keep honest photographs of remaining wear. A polished presentation is useful, but a buyer should still be able to inspect the unit they are considering. Do not treat the completion of recon as evidence that every visible mark has disappeared.

Recheck aging stock for visible drift

A vehicle that remains in stock may be moved, repaired or displayed differently. When the team reviews an older unit, include a quick image check: are the photographs current, complete and easy to understand?

A new price does not automatically require new photography. A visible change to the car does. That distinction keeps the review tied to a real signal rather than reshooting everything on a calendar.

Publish through the route you actually use

Motuva Studio prepares exterior presentation files. Retain originals, inspect the processed output against them and combine approved exteriors with the interiors and condition details you capture.

Upload through your established merchandising workflow, then open the shopper-facing gallery. This guide does not promise a direct DealerSocket integration, a universal Inventory+ image setting or an improvement in days to sale. The outcome to verify is that the published photos show the current vehicle clearly.
