OPENLANE Canada: photos after acquisition and inspection

Plan Canadian retail photographs after an OPENLANE acquisition, keeping inspection evidence, visible reconditioning and current listing images in separate records.

A clear photograph can reveal visible wear, but it cannot prove the mechanical condition of a vehicle. Canadian dealers buying through OPENLANE should keep those two questions separate when preparing the retail gallery.

Plan photography around the actual arrival and reconditioning process, rather than assuming the acquisition presentation is already the finished retail set.

Understand the inspection distinction

OPENLANE Canada’s August 2025 inspection FAQ distinguishes its post-sale inspection from a standard stationary condition report. It describes mechanical and structural checks, including a road test.

This guide does not summarize eligibility, costs, deadlines or dispute rights. Use current OPENLANE terms for those decisions. The editorial point is that photographs and inspections establish different kinds of information.

Keep the received records identifiable

Save acquisition photographs and inspection information with their source and date. Use a vehicle reference your team can connect to the actual unit. Avoid mixing incoming auction files with newly captured retail images without distinguishing them.

If a salesperson asks whether a mark remains, they should be able to find a current photograph and the relevant earlier record. A polished hero image alone cannot answer that history question.

Photograph after visible changes

Once the vehicle is physically available, check which visible work is pending. Schedule the final exterior and interior set after that work where practical. If initial photographs are used, name the views that will require replacement.

For example, replacing a worn seat changes both a close-up and a wider cabin view. Updating only the detail picture can leave the rest of the gallery inconsistent.

Show what a buyer can inspect

Build the retail set around the vehicle’s current appearance and equipment. Include interiors, cargo space and clear views of remaining wear. Do not describe a tidy exterior as proof that the vehicle passed a particular mechanical assessment.

If third-party acquisition images are considered for public reuse, verify usage rights first. Keep your own current photographs as the straightforward source for the dealership’s presentation.

Approve the retail output

Motuva Studio can prepare exterior presentation files. Compare them with the originals and preserve separately captured condition details. Use your established upload workflow; no direct OPENLANE connection is implied.

Finally, open the actual retail listing. Confirm that the pictures show the current unit and current visible condition. That publication check complements the dealership’s inspection process without replacing it or promising an auction outcome.
