CarDealer5 car photos: AI studio images for your listings

How Motuva works alongside CarDealer5: process forecourt photos into AI studio images, then upload them to your site and feeds as you do today.

Written by Andre, Team Motuva4 min read

CarDealer5 is a UK website platform and stock management system for used car dealers. It hosts your dealer website, manages your stock through its admin system, and feeds your vehicles out to more than a dozen advertising platforms — Auto Trader, eBay, Facebook and Gumtree among them. It is built for dealers who want a capable site without enterprise complexity or long contracts.

This article is about how AI car photography fits alongside it. Not instead of it — Motuva does not host websites, manage stock, or feed marketplaces, and it is not a competitor to CarDealer5 in any sense. Motuva does the one job that happens before any of that: it turns the photos you take on the forecourt into consistent studio-quality images. Those images then go into CarDealer5 the same way your photos do now.

The job each tool does

CarDealer5 is your stock system. The vehicle records, the website, the feeds to the advertising platforms, the admin. When you add a car, CarDealer5 is where its listing lives and where its photos get uploaded.

Motuva is your photography step. You photograph the car on the forecourt with a phone; Motuva processes those photos into studio-quality images — a clean consistent environment, plates handled on every image, your branding embedded if you want it. The output is full-resolution JPEG or PNG files.

The two never touch. Motuva has no access to your CarDealer5 account or your data — it produces image files, and you upload them like any other photo.

The workflow

  1. Photograph the car where it stands. Phone photos are fine. Cover the angles buyers expect — exterior, interior, boot, wheels — and get light on the car.
  2. Process in Motuva. Upload the set through the web app, choose your studio setting, and download the finished images. A typical vehicle set is three to eight images and processes in one go.
  3. Upload to CarDealer5 through the admin system, exactly as you upload photos today — including the drag-and-drop image management you already use. Your website shows the new images and your feeds carry them out to the advertising platforms automatically, because that is CarDealer5's job and it keeps doing it.

No integration, no setup, nothing changes in your CarDealer5 configuration. From the platform's point of view, you simply started uploading better photographs.

Why this matters more when your stock goes everywhere

CarDealer5's feed distribution is exactly why the photography step pays off. One processed set of images appears on your own site, on Auto Trader, on eBay, on Facebook — every destination at once. Do the image work properly once, upstream, and every channel benefits.

It also means channel rules matter. Marketplaces restrict text and overlays on listing images, so feed-bound uploads should be clean images only — save banner overlays and burned-in branding for your own website and social channels. Each platform also has its own technical specs, covered in what each marketplace actually requires. And because most UK dealer stock ends up on Auto Trader, the marketplace-side detail is in where AI photo editing fits in an Auto Trader workflow.

The honesty rule

One thing to be clear-eyed about: the car is never generated. Its own pixels are cut out of your photograph and composited into the studio, so the vehicle in the finished image is the vehicle you photographed — check each output against the original before it goes live all the same, the same way you would proof an advert. The background is presentation; the vehicle the buyer enquires about must be the vehicle in the photos.

What it costs

Motuva's pricing is a flat monthly amount with no credit system. The free plan is 20 images a month at full output quality, no watermark, using the studio library. Pro: 150 images and adds the ability to build your own studio. Ultra: unlimited images plus API access for automated workflows. At three to eight images per vehicle, Pro covers roughly 20–50 cars a month. Full details are on the pricing page.

That structure sits comfortably alongside a platform chosen for sensible monthly costs: you can start at zero, prove the output on your own stock, and only pay when the volume justifies it.

The same pattern on other platforms

Nothing here is specific to CarDealer5 — the pattern is photograph, process, upload to the stock system, let the system distribute. Dealers running other UK platforms can see the equivalent walkthrough for Dragon2000, and the principle is identical for any system where photos get uploaded to a vehicle record.

Test it on your own cars

The only judgment that matters is how your own stock looks. Take the photos from a recent listing, run them through the free plan, and put the output next to what is currently on your site. Twenty images covers a handful of vehicles — enough to decide with evidence rather than a sales pitch.
