Create an API key

An API key connects your own systems to Motuva. Create one under Account > API, copy it straight away, and what to do if it's refused.

An API key lets your own systems send cars to Motuva and pull the finished images back. You create keys under Account > API, and each key is shown in full only once.

How to create one

  1. Go to Account > API.
  2. Under Generate new key, type a Key name, such as the system it's for.
  3. Select Generate.
  4. In Your new API key, select Copy and keep the key somewhere safe.
  5. Select Done.

Once that window is closed, the key can't be shown again. If you lose it, regenerate it.

API documentation, on the same tab, explains how to use your key.

If a key can't be created

  • Unlock API instead of Generate new key: API keys come with the Ultra plan, and the Free and Pro plans don't include them.
  • You've reached your API key limit: disable a key you no longer use, then try again. Disabled keys don't count, and the limit is the same on every plan.
  • That key name is already in use: two active keys can't share a name. Choose another, or disable the other key first.
  • Too many API key requests: wait a while, then try again. Your existing keys still work.
  • Your last payment didn't go through: select Update payment details. Once the payment goes through you can create keys again, and your existing keys, paused until then, start working again. If there's an open payment dispute instead, select Get in touch.
