Regenerate or disable an API key

Regenerate a key to get a new value under the same name, or disable it for good. Both stop the old key working straight away.

Regenerate a key if it may have leaked or you've lost it: you get a new value under the same name, and the old one stops working straight away. Disable a key you no longer need: it stops working straight away, for good.

Regenerate a key

  1. Go to Account > API.
  2. Under Your API keys, select Regenerate (the circular arrows) next to the key.
  3. Select Regenerate key.
  4. Select Copy, keep the new value somewhere safe, then select Done.
  5. Put the new value into your integration.

Disable a key

  1. Go to Account > API.
  2. Under Your API keys, select Disable (the crossed-out circle) next to the key.
  3. Select Disable key.

Anything still using the key starts failing. Disabled keys stay in the list for your records, and their names are free to use again.

Good to know

  • A Paused key isn't disabled. It's waiting on a payment problem and starts working again once that's sorted.
  • A key that was disabled because your plan changed can't be turned back on. Create a new key on a plan that includes API access.
  • Regenerating doesn't count towards your key limit.
