If you've used conventional photo editing or background-removal tools before, here's how Motuva works differently.
Conventional photo editing
Traditional editing adjusts the photo you took — brightness, contrast, cropping, colour correction. The underlying photograph is still the starting point and the output. The editor modifies pixels; it doesn't replace them.
Background removal (cut-and-replace)
Tools that remove backgrounds work by detecting the car in the foreground, cutting it out, and placing it on a template background. The car itself is the original photograph, composited onto a new environment. The result can look composite — the lighting, shadows and reflections in the car don't respond to the new background because they were set by the original photograph.
AI-generated imagery (what Motuva does)
Motuva uses generative AI to rebuild the scene. Rather than cutting and pasting, the AI reads the car from your source photo and generates a new image — one where the lighting, reflections and environment are all produced together. The studio looks real because it's generated as a whole scene, not assembled from separate components.
This produces images that hold up more naturally under scrutiny. The shadows behave correctly. Reflections on the bodywork respond to the studio environment. The result looks like it was shot there, not composited.
What this means in practice
- Results look more natural than cut-and-replace composites in most cases.
- Fine details (plates, badges) can vary from the source photo. The AI is interpreting the scene, not documenting it pixel-for-pixel.
- Source photo quality matters more. Because the AI is reading the car from your photo, a better source photo gives the AI more to work from.
Resolution and file format
Motuva outputs high-resolution JPEG files. The resolution is consistent across all plans and is sufficient for standard automotive listing platforms. See Resolution & file formats.
