Dragon2000 has been building software for the motor trade since 1995. Its core products are DragonDMS — a dealer management system covering stock, sales, invoicing and accounts — plus dealer websites, mobile apps and stock feeds, used by over a thousand UK dealerships from used car and van operations through to franchised sites and service centres.
If your dealership runs on it, this article explains where AI car photography fits. The framing matters: Motuva is not a DMS, does not manage stock or accounts, and does not compete with Dragon2000 on anything. It does one job that sits upstream of your DMS — turning the photos you take on the forecourt into consistent studio-quality images. Those images then go into your vehicle records the same way your photos do today, and your website and feeds take it from there.
What stays where
Dragon2000 remains your system of record. Vehicle records, pricing, sales documents, your website, your stock feeds, your accounts. Nothing about that setup changes, and Motuva never touches your account or your data.
Motuva handles the images. A forecourt phone photo goes in; a studio-quality image comes out — your chosen environment and lighting, plates handled on every image, your dealership branding embedded if you want it. The output is full-resolution JPEG or PNG files that behave like any other photo.
The workflow
- Photograph the vehicle when it arrives — cars, vans, part-exchanges, whatever the stock is. Phone photos, shot wherever the vehicle is parked.
- Process the set in Motuva. Upload through the web app, choose your studio setting, download the finished images. A vehicle's full set processes as one batch; on prep days with multiple arrivals, bulk processing handles a day's stock in one pass — there's a fuller walkthrough in how batch editing works for a day's stock.
- Add the images to the DragonDMS vehicle record exactly as you add photos now. Your Dragon2000 website displays them and your stock feeds carry them to the marketplaces, because distribution is the DMS's job and it keeps doing it.
There is no integration to configure and nothing to install. To Dragon2000, the output is simply better photographs attached to the record.
For higher-volume operations that want to remove the manual download-and-upload step, Motuva's Ultra plan includes API access, so processing can be automated into your intake routine. The manual workflow works on every plan from day one.
Vans and commercial stock too
A practical note for the many Dragon2000 dealers selling vans: the workflow is the same. Commercial stock tends to be photographed in worse spots than retail cars — yards, loading areas, the back row — which makes a consistent processed background more valuable, not less. Same shot list discipline, same process, same upload.
One set of images, every channel
Because the DMS feeds your stock outwards, one processed set serves your own website and every marketplace your feed reaches. That is the argument for doing the image work once, upstream, rather than accepting whatever background each photo happened to have.
Channel rules still apply downstream: marketplaces restrict text and overlays on listing images, so keep feed-bound uploads clean — overlays and burned-in branding belong on your own website and social channels only. And since most UK stock ends up on Auto Trader, the marketplace-side specifics are covered in where AI photo editing fits in an Auto Trader workflow.
The honesty rule
The output is your own photograph of the vehicle composited into a rendered studio — the car in the output is the car you photographed, pixel for pixel, because nothing about the vehicle is generated. Before an image goes onto a record and out through your feeds, check it against the original anyway, the same way you would proof an invoice before sending it: a difficult shot can separate imperfectly, and the record is yours. The background is presentation; the vehicle the buyer comes to see must be the vehicle in the photos.
What it costs
Flat monthly pricing, no credit system. Free is 20 images a month at full output quality with no watermark, using the studio library. Pro: 150 images plus build-your-own studios. Ultra: unlimited images and the API. At three to eight images per vehicle, Pro covers roughly 20–50 vehicles a month; Ultra suits a forecourt processing stock daily.
See Pricing for the current price of each plan in your currency.
The same pattern elsewhere
None of this is Dragon2000-specific — the pattern is photograph, process, upload to the system of record, let the system distribute. Franchised sites running web platforms like GForces NetDirector follow the same logic, and so does any DMS where photos attach to a vehicle record.
Prove it on your own stock
Take the photos from a recent listing — ideally one shot in a typical spot on your forecourt — and run them through the free plan. Twenty images a month covers a few vehicles, which is enough to put before and after side by side and decide on evidence.
