Summary in plain English

This page explains what cookies and similar browser storage Motuva uses on motuva.com — and, just as importantly, what we don't use. If anything is unclear, email privacy@motuva.com.

The short version: we run no analytics or tracking until you make a choice in the cookie banner. The only thing we set before then is a small cookie remembering which language to show you. If you accept, we load one analytics tool (Google Analytics) so we can see how the site is used. If you reject, no analytics runs and the site works exactly the same. We store two small preferences in your browser either way — your cookie choice and your light/dark theme — so we don't have to ask again. There are no advertising cookies, no social media trackers, and nothing that follows you to other websites.

1. Who we are

Motuva is a service provided by MotorCut Ltd ("Motuva", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 12362580, VAT number GB369525656, with its registered office at Ava Office, Fir Tree Close, Stretton, Warrington, Cheshire, WA4 4NA, United Kingdom.

This policy covers motuva.com, our public website. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains how we handle personal data more broadly.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser, usually to remember you between pages or visits. Browsers also offer local storage — a similar mechanism that keeps small settings on your device without sending them to a server. This policy covers both, because the law treats them the same way.

3. What we actually use

Preferences (always on — no tracking)

These are small settings kept on your device. None of them identify you or track you:

• motuva-cookie-consent — remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so the banner doesn't reappear on every visit. Kept until you clear your browser data.
• theme — remembers your light/dark theme preference so the site looks the way you left it. Kept until you clear your browser data.
• NEXT_LOCALE — remembers which language you're browsing in, so we don't have to work it out again on every page. Set when we send you to a language version of the site, or when you choose a language yourself. Kept for a year.

Analytics (only if you accept)

If — and only if — you choose Accept in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ plus a property suffix) that distinguish one visitor from another so we can count visits, see which pages people read, and understand which pages lead people to sign up. We configure it to anonymise IP addresses.

Google Analytics cookies typically last up to 13 months. The data goes to Google, who process it on our behalf — Google's own privacy documentation explains their handling. Our Privacy Notice covers international transfers.

If you choose Reject, Google Analytics never loads and no analytics cookie is set. The site works identically either way.

4. What we don't use

• No advertising or marketing cookies
• No social media trackers or embedded pixels
• No cross-site tracking of any kind
• No analytics or tracking before you've made a choice
• We never sell data collected by cookies

5. The Motuva app

When you sign in to the Motuva app, we use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and keep your session secure. Those are essential and are not optional. Live chat is different, and it stays switched off until you turn it on: the live chat button is on every page, and the first time you press it we explain that the chat tool sets its own cookies to remember your conversation and ask you to agree. Nothing is set unless you agree, and you can change your answer at any time from the Cookie Policy page inside the app. Our product analytics is different again: inside the app it keeps nothing on your device at all, no cookie and no stored identifier.

6. Changing your mind

Your choice is stored in your browser, so to change it, clear your browsing data (cookies and site data) for motuva.com. The banner will ask again on your next visit. If you previously accepted, clearing site data also removes the Google Analytics cookies.

7. Changes to this policy

If we add, remove, or change the cookies we use, we'll update this page. The date at the top tells you which version you're reading.
