Regenerate a key if it may have leaked or you've lost it: you get a new value under the same name, and the old one stops working straight away. Disable a key you no longer need: it stops working straight away, for good.
Regenerate a key
- Go to Account > API.
- Under Your API keys, select Regenerate (the circular arrows) next to the key.
- Select Regenerate key.
- Select Copy, keep the new value somewhere safe, then select Done.
- Put the new value into your integration.
Disable a key
- Go to Account > API.
- Under Your API keys, select Disable (the crossed-out circle) next to the key.
- Select Disable key.
Anything still using the key starts failing. Disabled keys stay in the list for your records, and their names are free to use again.
Good to know
- A Paused key isn't disabled. It's waiting on a payment problem and starts working again once that's sorted.
- A key that was disabled because your plan changed can't be turned back on. Create a new key on a plan that includes API access.
- Regenerating doesn't count towards your key limit.
