Change your banner's style and colours

Choose Corner, Bar or Fade, a theme, a highlight colour and a font for a banner, and set the look every new banner starts with.

Four controls under the preview set the look: Style, Theme, Highlight and Font. On a narrow screen they're folded under Appearance; select it to open them.

How to change the look

  1. Open the advert, select the photo, then select Add banner or Edit banner.
  2. Under Style, choose Corner, Bar or Fade.
  3. Under Theme, choose a theme.
  4. Under Highlight, choose the colour of the main figure.
  5. Under Font, choose a font.
  6. Select Apply banner, or Save changes if you're editing.

The preview redraws after each change, and your download is drawn the same way.

The three styles

  • Corner: a panel in a top corner of the photo. Finance banners only.
  • Bar: a solid band across the bottom of the photo.
  • Fade: a band across the bottom that fades up into the photo.

The style decides where the banner sits, so there's no separate position setting. Corner has no button.

Themes, colours and fonts

  • There are five themes: Charcoal, Champagne, Navy, Ivory and Mono.
  • Highlight starts on the theme's own colour. Choose a swatch, or type a hex code in the # box, such as your brand colour.
  • The screen shows how well the colour stands out against the banner. Under 3 to 1, the figure is hard to read.
  • Use the theme's own puts the theme's colour back.
  • There are ten fonts, grouped as Sans and Serif.

Set the look every new banner starts with

  1. Go to Account > Banner.
  2. Choose your Default banner and Default style.
  3. Choose a Theme, Highlight and Font.

Each choice is saved as you make it. New banners start from these; banners you've already applied don't change. In the Motuva app, it's Account > Banner defaults.
