Remove reflections is an AI edit for one advert photo. It takes the reflections of where you photographed the car off the car itself: sky, clouds, trees, buildings, people, you with the camera, and the glare. The car then looks as if it was photographed in the studio it now stands in.
What it changes, and what it doesn't
- Only the car changes. The studio or scene around it stays exactly as it was.
- It doesn't brighten or recolour the car. A dark or badly lit photo stays dark.
- Where the number plate is found, the plate from your photo is put back over the edit, so it isn't redrawn. A plate seen side-on can be missed, so check it.
- Because the AI redraws the paint, small details can change: a stone chip can be smoothed over, or the paint can come out a shade lighter. Check the result before you publish it. You can always put the reflections back.
Which photos it's on
Remove reflections is under Image settings on a finished photo of the whole car from outside. You won't see it on:
- interior photos or close-ups
- a photo that is still being made, or one that failed
- some older adverts
How to remove reflections
- Go to Adverts and open the advert.
- Select the photo.
- Under Image settings, select Remove reflections.
- A pop-up shows an example before and after, a note that this is an AI edit, and how many you have left. Select Remove reflections to go ahead, or Cancel.
The pop-up always shows the first time. To skip it after that, tick Don't show me again, and selecting Remove reflections starts straight away. You can turn the pop-up back on in Account.
While it works
It takes about a minute, sometimes longer. The photo and its thumbnail shimmer while they update, and you can carry on with the advert's other photos or go to another page. That photo's own settings, Plate cover, Banner and Remove reflections, are locked until it has finished.
When it's done, a message tells you, and the photo and its thumbnail change to the new version by themselves. Download All stays off until every photo in the advert has finished.
Put the reflections back
Once it's done, the photo's row reads Reflections removed, with Revert beside it.
- Select Revert.
- Compare With reflections and Reflections removed.
- Select Put them back, or Keep to leave the reflections removed.
Reverting keeps the photo's other settings as they are now, such as its plate cover. It doesn't give the use back. Changing the photo's Plate cover after removing reflections keeps them removed and doesn't use another one. There's no option to try again for a different result.
After you revert, removing the reflections from that photo again is free and instant, even with none left this month, as long as nothing else on the photo has changed: you get the same version back. If you've changed its plate cover or anything else since, it's a new run, and it uses one.
How many you get
On every plan, you can remove reflections from 5 photos a month for free, unless your account has unlimited removals. The pop-up shows how many you have left. The count is for the whole account, so everyone on your team shares it, and it starts again each month.
A use is taken only when your photo gets its new version. If the reflections can't be removed, the photo stays as it was, the screen says so, and no use is taken. If Motuva is busy, you're asked to try again in a few minutes, and no use is taken then either.
When you've used all 5, the screen tells you.
Unlimited reflections
- On a Pro or Ultra plan, an add-on makes it unlimited. You add it or remove it in the Add-ons window, which opens from Go unlimited in the pop-up, from Subscription > Manage add-ons, or from Account > Billing > Manage add-ons.
- Before you confirm, the screen shows the add-on's monthly price and what you'll pay today for the rest of your current billing month. After that, it's one more line on your usual monthly bill.
- Unlimited starts once today's payment has gone through.
- Unlimited still has a daily limit. If you reach it, the screen says so, and it resets at midnight.
- To stop it, select Remove in the Add-ons window. It stays on until your next bill date, then stops, with no part refund, and your plan isn't affected. Changing your mind before then costs nothing: select Keep it.
- The Free plan has no monthly bill to add it to. Motuva Signature includes unlimited removals, within the same daily limit.
- If your plan ends, the add-on ends with it. Photos you've already changed stay changed.
In the Motuva app
Remove reflections works in the Motuva app too. Go to Adverts, open the advert, select the photo, and under Image settings select Remove reflections. It uses the same monthly count as the web app, and Revert is there too. A photo you change in either app shows its new version in both.
