My image doesn't look right — what to do

Steps to take when a generated image has quality issues — plate errors, odd reflections or a result that doesn't match the car.

If a generated image has something wrong with it, here's what to do.

Step 1 — Regenerate

Select Regenerate on the image. A second pass from the same photo often produces a noticeably different result. Generative AI has natural variability between runs — the same input can produce a meaningfully better output the second time.

Re-generating uses one image from your monthly allowance.

Step 2 — Check your source photo

If multiple re-generates aren't improving things, the issue is usually in the source photo. Common problems:

  • Poor lighting. Heavy shadows across the bodywork or low-light shots give the AI less to work from.
  • Partial car. If the bonnet, boot or wheels are cut off in the source photo, the AI has to fill in information it doesn't have.
  • Motion blur or lens distortion. A sharp, steady shot gives cleaner output.
  • Very close-up framing. Shooting very close with a wide angle lens can distort the car's proportions.

Retake the photo in better conditions and re-upload. See Photo requirements for a good source image.

Step 3 — Try a different studio

Some studios suit certain car colours or shapes better. A white car against a white background with low contrast lighting can look flat. Try a studio with stronger contrast or a different backdrop colour.

Specific issues

Number plate looks wrong. Plates are the most common area where the AI shows variability. Re-generating usually fixes this. If the plate is critical for your listing, re-generate until you get a clean result.

The car's colour looks different. This usually comes from the studio lighting. Some studios add warm or cool casts. Try a studio with more neutral lighting.

A part of the car looks distorted. This can happen with unusual shapes or angles in the source photo. A fresh source photo from a slightly different position often resolves it.

The background doesn't look studio quality. Check that you've selected a studio from the library rather than generating with no studio selected. If the background looks unusual, re-generate.
